Workprogramme 4

Work Program IV (WPG IV): Exploitation and dissemination of the results, Project management (Leader: Jean-Claude Manuguerra, Institut Pasteur Paris, France)

Workpackage 10 Recommendations for the prevention and control to current and future avian influenza outbreaks in wild and domestic birds with a pandemic potential in Europe and the rest of the world

WP leader: Jean-Claude MANUGUERRA, Institut Pasteur, Paris, France
Participants: All
The main objective of this WP is to ensure the delivery of a final report to the EC that will include the scientific data and guidelines for recommendations for the prevention and control of current and future avian influenza outbreaks in wild and domestic birds with a pandemic potential in Europe and the rest of the world.
The Coordinator and the Steering Committee of the RIVERS Consortium will write the final report taking in consideration the scientific results achieved by the different work programme participants. Before diffusion to the EC, the final report will be reviewed and approved by all the participants of the Consortium and by the Scientific Advisory Board Sharing experiences and conclusions with the other Consortiums implicated in the EC call on Avian Influenza, especially Tasks 2, 3 and 4 will also be considered. The possible diffusion of the final report to the public will be done in agreement with the EC representatives.

Workpackage 11 : Management of the RIVERS project

WP leader: Jean-Claude MANUGUERRA, Institut Pasteur, Paris, France
Participants: All
Management activities as outlined in section 6, will form a separate WP in the project. This WP will deal with all legal, administrative and financial aspects of the project, and with the animation of the whole research RIVERS activities.
The management organisation will therefore have two levels:

  1. Central activities dedicated to the consortium level project management
  2. An integrated Workprogram governance in order to allow an efficient articulation between the different WPG : The leader of WPG I will make sure that WP0 and WP1 outcome are made available as data and tools are being produced. The leader of WP9 (WPG III) will be associated to WP2 from the very beginning as it is important that study design in this observational work is sound in regards to further statistical analysis and mathematical modelling. The leader of WPG I and the leader of WPG II will communicate to favour the exchange of protocols, data and views on disinfection issues between WP4 and WP7. The leader of WPG II will organise communication between WP5, WP6 and WP7. Regular telephone conference (every 2 months) will be organised by the RIVERS Project coordinator between him and the 3 WPG leaders.
